Client Site Migration Guide
The process and timeline for moving client sites onto Press Mage — designed to be boring, in the best way.
Inventory & plan
Day 1You share the site list (domains, sizes, plugins, DNS access). We map each site to a hosting plan and flag anything unusual before work starts.
Provision & copy
Days 1–3We provision each site's environment and copy files and databases. The live site keeps running — nothing changes for the client yet.
Review on a staging URL
Days 2–4Every migrated site gets a preview URL. Your team verifies pages, forms, and integrations before any DNS changes.
DNS cutover
Scheduled with youWe coordinate the DNS switch per site — typically outside the client's business hours. SSL issues automatically at cutover.
Post-migration watch
First weekWe monitor errors and performance after cutover, and the old environment stays untouched as a fallback until you confirm.
Typical timeline
A single standard WordPress site is usually reviewed and cut over within one week. Portfolios migrate in scheduled batches so your team is never verifying more than a handful of sites at once.
