Glossary.

  • Monitor. One web address Mage Watcher checks on a schedule.
  • Group. An application or customer that monitors belong to, and the unit of a status page.
  • Monitoring region. A location your sites are checked from.
  • Verification. Asking other regions to check after a failure, or after a recovery, before deciding.
  • False alarm. A failure one region saw that the others did not confirm.
  • Channel. A named list of email addresses alerts are sent to.
  • Rule. Which event goes to which channel, for which monitors.
  • Web image. A screenshot of the monitored page, kept as evidence.

What Mage Watcher does not do. Alerts are sent by email or as GVenta Help Desk tickets only; there are no text message, chat or webhook alerts. Checks are HTTP and HTTPS web checks only. A check succeeds only on a 200 OK response; other success codes cannot be chosen. There is no in-app user management or profile page, no export of check data, and a deleted group, monitor or channel cannot be restored.
