Mage Stats
Mage Stats is privacy-friendly website analytics. It is available as an add-on on hosted sites and as a standalone service with its own client portal.
On a hosted site
The Mage Stats panel on the service page shows visits, unique visitors, page views and bounce rate for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, plus the tracking snippet with a Copy button. On WordPress the tracking is installed for you; on other sites paste the snippet into the page head. Full Stats opens the complete reports.
The full reports
Every report shares a header with a Tracking Health button, tabs for each report, and period buttons: Today, Yesterday, 7 Days, 30 Days, 90 Days, This Month and Last Month. The period follows you between tabs. On a standalone Mage Stats service with several websites, a site switcher in the header changes which website you are looking at.
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Overview | Page views, visitors, sessions, bounce rate, average duration, top country, browser, device and source, events; traffic trend, top pages, sources, audience, devices, insights and top events |
| Traffic | Page views and sessions over time, traffic sources, top pages, UTM sources |
| Pages | Every page with views and share, plus top entry and exit pages; each path opens the live page, and Details opens a report for that page alone |
| Acquisition | Referrers, domains and UTM source, medium and campaign |
| Audience | Countries and languages |
| Technology | Devices, browsers, operating systems and screen resolutions |
| Events | Custom events your site sends, their totals and distribution |
| Sessions | Individual anonymous visits; click one to see its page-by-page path |
| Campaigns | Performance of UTM-tagged links, and your saved campaign links |
| SEO | Google Search Console data, see below |
Campaign Builder. From Campaigns, click Build Campaign Link. Enter a campaign name, the destination URL and the UTM source, medium and campaign (content and term are optional). The link is generated as you type, with a QR code; save it to list it under Saved Campaign Links, where you can copy or archive it later.
Tracking Health. Confirms whether visits are being recorded, shows the site's tracking ID and recent counts, and shows the Google Search Console connection state.
SEO in Mage Stats
The SEO tab shows how the site appears in Google search, using Google Search Console.
Connecting. Click Connect Google Search Console, sign in with Google and allow read-only access, then pick the property that matches the site (the best match is preselected) and click Use Selected Property. Data appears after the first sync; Search Console figures always run two to three days behind, and each report says the date its data runs through.
- Overview. Impressions, clicks, average click-through rate and average position, a chart over time, and the top keywords.
- Keywords. Every query, with filters for a word, device and country.
- Landing Pages. The pages that appeared in search, ranked by impressions.
- Opportunities. Queries with many impressions but few clicks, where a better title or description would help, and queries ranking just off the first page.
Disconnect Google Search Console at the bottom of the Overview removes the connection and its synced data. On a standalone Mage Stats service, a linked hosted site uses the connection of the service it is linked from; the Overview says so and offers Manage there.
A standalone Mage Stats service
The service page for a Mage Stats plan has its own layout: Domains, Add-ons, then the Client portal panel and two website panels.
Client portal. Your white-label stats site. Open portal launches it. The panel shows its address, your admin sign-in (a one-time emailed link, no password to remember) and the Client users list. To add a client:
- Under Add a client user, enter their name and email.
- Choose a role: Client (chosen websites) or Admin (every website).
- For a client, tick the websites they may see. At least one is required.
- Click Add and send sign-in link.
Each existing user offers Edit access, Resend link and Remove.
Your websites. One row per website your plan and Site Pods pay for, with the allowance shown as "N of M sites". A website that has not been pointed at a real site yet reads Not set up yet; click Set up, enter the site address and an optional label, click Save, then copy the tracking code onto that site or download its WordPress plugin. Set-up websites show their tracking state, View stats and Tracking code. Remove site deletes the website and its data. When every slot is used, the panel offers Add a Site Pod.
Hosted sites with Mage Stats add-ons. Sites on your hosting services whose Mage Stats add-on is shown here and in the client portal. They are tracked by their own service and never use your slots. Unlink stops showing one here without affecting its add-on.
