Redirect types

Type Use
302 Found (default) Almost always. The destination can be changed and every visit is counted
307 Temporary Redirect A temporary redirect that keeps the request method
301 Permanent Redirect Rarely. Browsers cache it, so later destination changes and repeat visits may not register

Glossary

  • Workspace. Your agency's account in Mage URL. People can belong to more than one.
  • Alias. The part of a short link after the domain.
  • Active link. A link with the Active or Scheduled status, which counts towards your allowance.
  • Campaign. A named group of links reported on together.
  • Preset. A saved source and medium pair for tagging links.
  • UTM parameters. utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content tags on a URL.

What Mage URL does not do

There is no permanent deletion of links or campaigns (archive instead), no renaming of a link's alias, no bulk editing or importing of links, no editing of a preset's values once saved (delete and save it again), and no custom short domains: every link uses the shared short domain shown in front of the alias field. Link clicks are not conversion tracking: Mage URL records the click, not what happens on the destination page.
