Connecting social accounts
Mage Engage publishes straight to the brand's social accounts. Connect them under Brand → Publishing. Only the Owner and Administrators can connect, check or disconnect accounts; everyone can see what is connected.
You sign in to each network on its own page and approve Mage Engage. Mage Engage keeps what it needs to post, encrypted, and never shows it. How many social accounts you can connect depends on your plan.
Facebook, Bluesky, LinkedIn and X can be connected by every account. Instagram is being opened up in stages, so it may not be available to your account yet. If a network shows "publishing is coming soon to your account", it is not open to your account yet.
Facebook Pages
Click Connect Facebook, log in to Facebook and let Mage Engage manage posts on your Pages. Back in Mage Engage, tick the Pages this brand may post to and click Connect ticked Pages. A Page you may not be allowed to post to is marked. Connect more Pages adds others later.
The Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page you manage. Click Connect Instagram, log in to Facebook, tick the Instagram accounts this brand may post to and click Connect ticked.
Instagram posts need at least one image (no text-only posts) and allow up to 10 images. See Platform variants for more.
Click Connect LinkedIn, sign in to LinkedIn and approve Mage Engage. Tick the Company Pages you administer, and your own profile if you like, then click Connect ticked.
A LinkedIn sign-in lasts for a set time. Each connection shows Sign-in valid until a date, and either that it is renewed automatically until a later date, or that you need to reconnect before then. You are reminded by a notification when it is time.
X
Click Connect X, sign in on X and approve Mage Engage. To connect a different X account, sign out of X in that browser first, then click Connect another. Publishing to X uses Mage X Post Tokens; see Mage X Post Tokens.
Bluesky
Type the account's Bluesky handle (for example yourname.bsky.social) and click Connect Bluesky. You sign in on Bluesky's own page and approve Mage Engage. Mage Engage never sees your Bluesky password.
Managing connections
Each connected account shows its name (linked to the profile), when and by whom it was connected, when it was last checked, and a status:
- Connected. Ready to post.
- Needs attention or Needs reconnecting. Mage Engage can no longer post there. The last error is shown underneath. Connect the account again.
Check tests the connection now. Disconnect removes it; posts chosen for that account will not be published there. If you reconnect the same account later (the same Page, profile or handle), on any network, its waiting and failed posts are attached to it again. A different account is never swapped in; for that, choose it on the post under Post to.
A platform with no connected account still appears when you create posts, marked (not connected — draft only), so you can write drafts for it before it is connected.
