Platform variants
Each post has one variant per destination: the text that goes to that Page, account or profile. Variants are edited on their own, so the LinkedIn version can be longer and more formal than the X version.
Editing a variant
Each variant card on the post page has:
- Post text, with a live character count against the platform's limit. Going over shows a warning.
- Hashtags and a Link.
- Own publish time (optional). Leave empty to publish with the master schedule.
- Link tracking for this platform, if Mage URL is connected.
- Save for that platform.
For X, the card also shows how many Mage X Post Tokens it will use, which goes up when the post contains a link.
Beside the editor, an approximate preview shows the brand name and logo, the text, the post's images (one whole, or several as a grid) and a link preview card when there are no images. The platform's own layout will differ.
A variant can be edited until it starts publishing.
Writing the variants with AI
Write the platform versions with AI rewrites the variants from the master content, fitted to each platform. Tick the platforms to write. Versions you edited are marked your edits and are left alone unless you tick Replace my edits on the ticked platforms. Click Write with AI; it uses AI Credits.
Platform notes
- Instagram needs at least one image and allows up to 10. Images narrower than 320 pixels are refused.
- Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Bluesky accept text posts, with or without images. LinkedIn takes up to 20 images, X and Bluesky up to 4. Images too large for X or Bluesky are shrunk automatically.
- Video cannot be published to any platform yet. A post with a video fails with Not supported yet; remove the video, or post it on the platform yourself.
- A platform shows a link card only when the post has no images of its own.
When an account is disconnected
If a variant's account was disconnected, the card says it has nowhere to post. Choose another connected account on that platform under Post to and click Save (or Save and retry for a failed one). The variant keeps its own text.
