Creating a post

Every post has master content and one platform variant per destination. The master holds the core message and the post's settings; each variant is the version that goes to one platform, edited on its own (see Platform variants).

Four ways to start

New Post (on the calendar, the Posts list or a campaign) asks how you want to create this post:

Option What it does
Write it manually Write the post yourself; Mage AI can add an image
Create with AI Describe it; Mage AI writes every platform version (see Create with AI)
Reuse content Turn a post, article or product into new posts
Create a campaign Plan a set of posts around one goal (see Campaigns)

The AI options appear for people who can use Mage AI. If you switch option after typing, you are asked first.

Writing it manually

  • Internal title (required). Only your team sees it.
  • Core message. New platform variants start from this text.
  • Content goal, Campaign, Product / service and Audience (all optional).
  • Call to action and Call-to-action URL.
  • Link tracking, if your account has Mage URL connected (see Link tracking with Mage URL).
  • Where to post. Every connected Page, account and profile of the brand, grouped by platform. Platforms with nothing connected show (not connected — draft only).
  • Content pillars.
  • Media. Add media opens the brand's Media Library in a dialog: search, upload by dropping files in, tick items, and click Apply. Up to 10 images or videos. Reorder or remove them on the form.
  • Status. Idea, Draft or Scheduled.
  • Scheduled time. Pick a time or Next available slot (shown with its time) from the brand's posting schedule. If no schedule exists yet, a link takes you to set one up.
  • Internal notes. Never published.
  • Create a custom image with Mage AI, if available (see Custom images and Image Sets).

Click Create Post. If you try to leave with unsaved changes, your browser asks first.

When you save, links in the post are checked. If one doesn't work, you are told before scheduling and can fix it or tick Schedule anyway. How many posts you can schedule each month depends on your plan.

The post page

Opening a post shows its status, the Workflow and Approval panel (see Review and approval), the Master content form with Save Master, its custom image if it has one, the Platform variants, and a History of what happened to it. A post made by Mage Planner also shows where it was planned and why.
